Specialized Bicycle Components Recalls 12,200 Bicycles

A recent recall by Specialized Bicycle Components affects 12,200 bicycles sold in the U.S.
 
The recall is of the 2012 and 2013 road bicycles that have the brand name “Specialized” on the frame. The actual model is Tarmac SL4 or “Secteur.” The reason for the recall? The steerer tube in the front fork could break causing the bicyclist to fall, (Specialized Bicycle Components Recalls Bicycle Due to Fall Hazard, PR Newswire, http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/specialized-bicycle-components-recalls-bicycles-due-to-fall-hazard-188358731.html).
 
There have been two reported incidents regarding this defect, one which resulted in the rider enduring facial injuries and abrasions.
